Hi, my name is Eric. This is my tutorial on how to make your own personal webserver. What are my qualifications? None. Accredations? None. My knowlwdge of Nginx? Right now very little. For a living I work inside a freezer at a chicken processing plant. On the plus side, I have a high school deploma! So why come here to learn from me?
Because I am not an expert. I'm not a professional system admin, I don't have any degrees or certifications, and I'm not going to act like I do. I am going to be learning just like you. I will make mistakes. I can then say I messed something up, share what it was, and how I fixed it. Most importantly share what lesson was learned from that mistake. I can use plain english to explain things because I dont have to sound like I know everything. When I feel overwhelmed with what I am trying to do that means you will as well, and I can break it down into smaller, easier lessons. Basically as a total noob, I can do as Joan Jett says and not give a damn about my bad reputation. An expert who messes up wont put that in their tutorial because it will make them look dumb apparently. Not here!
Failure Leads to Success. So lets go break shit again today. Lets make error codes pop like popcorn, crash the system like its a demolition derby, and make more security holes than swiss cheese. And of course this course wont be over until we figure out why all the choas we created was created because that is where the real learning happens!
